Huck

Huck just turned 2 years old, and seems like a great dog! Huck is currently located in TX.

He is a purebred Boerboel, as confirmed by a breed DNA test. Huck has had professional training. He is a loving dog with the family and people that he knows and trusts. He is suspicious of strangers and is an alert guardian. He sounds like the typical Boerboel — a clown at times and loving with the family and people he knows, but serious when a stranger or someone he doesn’t know comes to the house.

The only reason Huck is up for adoption is that some of the dogs in the owner’s pack do not get along with Huck. Huck is one of 5 male dogs in the household. The owner rescued Huck when he was 7 months old. Two of the dogs in the household do not get along with Huck. Huck is good with the other two male dogs in the household. This situation requires that the owner continuously rotate dogs to keep peace in the household. This is a fine workaround when the owner is home, but he goes out of town one or two times per month where he has to bring in the pet sitter. The owner feels it would be safer for the pet sitter and the dogs not to have to rely on a careful rotation process.

The owner rescued Huck when he was 7 months old, and has owned him for about 1-1/2 years. Huck has not been raised with children, so we feel it is best that he goes to an adult home. The owner will be very selective about the choice of homes for Huck. Huck is beautiful, and very receptive to training. He has no food or toy resource guarding issues. When training, Huck takes food softly from your hand. When Huck sees the treat bag, he gets excited because he knows it is time for training! For this reason, we think Huck will enjoy someone who likes working and training their dog. He learns quickly, and definitely seems to enjoy training. He sounds like the typical Boerboel to me!
